For many women, trying on junior swimwear is one of the most terrifying things that you can do. After the winter when you get to cover everything up and eat comfort food for months you can get quite a shock when you come face to face with your thighs in fluorescent lighting. You can avoid this though if you start getting prepared for summer before the mercury starts rising.

To do this you need to do some exercise to slim down and tone up before blue string bikini season rears its head once more. With a little forward planning, you will be looking hot long before you need to head into the fluorescent lighting of the evil changing rooms.

You should ideally do something active every day. If you absolutely cannot, then you should at least try for 3 or 4 times a week. Half of the week you should plan to do active things that you like. Put some thought into it and invite others to do it with you to make it more fun. It could be basketball, roller blading or whatever else you actually enjoy doing.

In between doing the activities that you find fun and interesting, you will need to do a few cardio workouts to get your blood pumping around your body. You can choose from a number of cardio activities such as jogging, power walking, dancing, swimming, cycling, or jump rope. This should get you puffing and make you red and sweaty.

In addition to aerobic exercise you will have to do some toning exercises such as squats and lunges. These are sensational at toning your thighs and butt. These two areas tend to be the places where women accumulate their weight. If you put weight on in your stomach region, then also ensure that you include abdominal exercises in your routine.

You can find loads of different squats and lunges to do. They will work on toning your thighs, butt and hips. To keep it interesting try to vary your toning exercises and look on the Internet to find a variety of styles to do. Try to increase the amount you can do as you progress towards your summer goal.

In order to get the best results you should also watch what you are eating and minimize fatty, sugary and processed foods. Also make sure that you are drinking lots of water to flush out your system and the toxins that can build up and lead to cellulite, bloating and weight gain.

By doing some exercise and cutting out processed foods, you will be able to lose some weight and tighten up any flabby areas that are exposed by your string bikini. When it comes time to enter the changing rooms you will be able to do it with your head held high and look at the two piece swimwear clad body in the mirror without an averted gaze.
