About
Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. is a US-based fashion house founded in the early 80s by American designer Kenneth Cole. The company was originally named Kenneth Cole Incorporated in September 1982. Kenneth Cole planned to showcase his latest line of shoes during market week at the Hilton Hotel in New York. The company could not afford to purchase a hotel room or showroom to exhibit this new line, so Kenneth Cole decided to borrow a truck and ask the mayor’s office for permission to park in front of a fancy shoe building a few blocks away from the Hilton Hotel. However, permits were only granted to utility and production companies shooting full-length motion pictures, so Kenneth Cole changed the name of the business to Kenneth Cole Productions, Inc. and then applied for a permit to shoot a full-length motion picture entitled “The Birth of a Shoe Company”. So was born, Kenneth Cole Shoes.
